Vaporizer maintenance – how to do it?

If you’ve already bought your first vaporizer, you surely want it to work as long as possible. You can increase its durability if you handle it with care and clean it properly. If you wonder how to clean your vaporizer in an efficient and safe manner, our experts give you some advice on how to do it.

Vaporizer – handle with care

Probably every smoker has broken at least one glass pipe. Vaporizers are not that easy to damage, but they do need to be handled with care. If you drop it once, nothing should happen but if it falls on the floor several times, it can get damaged and its durability can be significantly reduced.

In the majority of cases, the warranty doesn’t cover these types of damages so it’s better to be careful and avoid risky situations. After all, a vaporizer is not a cheap product and it deserves to be handled accordingly.

Quick cleaning after every use

Once you finish the inhalation, you should immediately empty the chamber from the remains of herbs, otherwise, they can get stuck to the walls. Once you remove all the herbs and the chamber cools down, wipe it with a small brush in order to remove any particles of herbs.

If you do it regularly, it will be easier for you to do the deep cleaning later on. Every vaporizer is built in a different way so make sure you check all the spots within the chamber area that are not easily accessible and clean them with a brush after every use. This really is much easier than scrubbing layers of residue.

How to clean a vaporizer? Deep cleaning every few sessions

Due to the fact that there are so many differences in the construction of the models, every vaporizer needs to be cleaned in a different way so one, universal technique doesn’t exist.

Some vaporizers require a minimum effort in terms of cleaning, while others need to be cleaned practically after every use. Usually, it’s enough if you clean your vaporizer once every few sessions, in some cases doing it once every dozen of sessions is sufficient.

The most important elements that need to be cleaned are the chamber, the path that the vapor goes through and the mouthpiece. It’s best to clean it with isopropyl alcohol (preferably 99% pure – available in our store), cotton buds and paper towels.

All the glass and steel parts can be safely soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Once it’s done, you just need to rinse them with a stream of warm water and the majority of the residue will be gone. In no case should you use isopropyl alcohol to clean wooden elements because this liquid is a strong dissolvent and it will cause a permanent damage to these parts.

Wooden elements can be cleaned only with a cosmetic pad or a cotton bud soaked in warm water. It’s crucial that all the wooden elements get cleaned this way. As for plastic and acrylic elements, the use of isopropyl alcohol shouldn’t normally affect their surface, but it’s better to keep their contact with the dissolvent to the minimum.

Some silicone elements, such as inhalation pipes in stationary vaporizers, can get deformed when treated with a dissolvent, but once they get rinsed with water and properly dried, they should get back to their original shape. However, if we don’t want to take the risk, it’s better to clean these elements with an organic cleaner, such as LaPilu (also available in our store).

Never pour isopropyl alcohol into the chamber, even if it seems water-tight. You might accidentally damage the vaporizer! It’s best to use a cosmetic pad or a cotton bud soaked in alcohol. Make sure you squeeze the excess of the liquid out of the cosmetic pad before you proceed to the cleaning.

The accessory you use should be moist, not soaking with alcohol. Once the alcohol evaporates, switch the device on with an empty chamber. This way you will get rid of the remains of the dissolvent.

A vaporizer that pumps balloons is a special case in terms of cleaning. The balloons cannot be cleaned so when they are too dirty to be used (the walls get stuck together), the only thing you can do is replace the balloon with a new one.

Battery – charging and storage

Since you already know how to clean a vaporizer and you are aware that it must be handled with care, we’d like to mention one more important aspect of proper maintenance of your vaporizer – the battery.

The majority of modern batteries can be charged any time or even left charging overnight, with no risk of them getting damaged. What you should note, however, is that the battery of a vaporizer that is not used for a longer period should still be charged.

If a dead battery is stored for a longer time (e.g. a few weeks), its durability gets reduced. That’s why whenever you plan on not using your vaporizer for a longer time, make sure the battery is charged.
