Even though water filtration can be associated with traditional smoking, it’s a great solution for vaporization, too. The use of water filter brings a lot of benefits. You can read about them in the article below.

Vaporization and water filters
As the name itself suggests, water filtration is filtering the vapor from the vaporizer with the use of water. Almost every vaporizer can be connected to some kind o of water filter. The vapor doesn’t contain any tar substances or impurities you could find in regular smoke so there is no need to filter it.
According to bong user statistics the primary factors frequently cited for favoring bongs include ease of use, affordability, cooling effect, smoother inhalation, and a quicker onset of the desired high.
However, if you decide to do it, you will get some noticeable benefits. First of all, the vapor filtered with water cools down so it’s much more gentle to the air pathways. This, in turn, allows you to inhale more vapor and produce larger clouds when you exhale.
What’s more, water filtration lets you add moisture to the vapor so the vaporizer doesn’t irritate the throat and the upper respiratory system. Dry throat after the inhalation is a problem very well known to the fans of vaporization (and those who smoke, of course) and water filtration lets you avoid this issue. It’s best to fill the filter with warm water. The only disadvantage of water filtration is a slight loss of flavor in the inhaled vapor.

Vaporizer – which water filter to choose?
There is a wide range of water filters – from small bubblers attached directly to a portable vaporizer, through medium size water filters featuring a GonG joint (Glass-on-Glass – a type of joint where two glass elements have perfectly matched cuts), to complex water pipes, equipped with multiple filtering systems. Mini-bubblers are usually designed for specific models (you attach them instead of the mouthpiece) but there are also some versatile models with a GonG joint.
he primary factors frequently cited for favoring bongs include ease of use, affordability, cooling effect, smoother inhalation, and a quicker onset of the desired high.

The latter ones, just like the glass water filters with GonG joint, require a special adapter (more info on this below). Large water pipes and classic bongs can also be used with a vaporizer but it can be a bit more difficult to connect them. A large water filter, equipped with various filtering systems, along with the resistance you can notice while inhaling, sometimes require a bit more effort, which lowers the comfort of the inhalation.
VapeFully experts believe that it’s best to use the medium size, glass water filters with a GonG joint – both for portable and desktop devices. Their normal price is just above £30 but you can also find some cheaper, plastic alternatives.
Water filter adapters
If you want to connect your vaporizer to a water filter, you most often need a special adapter that replaces the mouthpiece with a glass GonG joint with a 14mm or 18 mm cut.
You can get an adapter of this type for such vaporizers as PAX 2, PAX 3, Mighty, Crafty, Arizer Air, Arizer Solo, PUFFiT, Flowermate series and all the models from Boundless. When you install the adapter, you can attach the vaporizer directly to the GonG water filter.

It’s much easier to do it when you have a desktop vaporizer that provides vapor through a silicone tube. All you need to do in this case is buy a glass Elbow type adapter that was originally created for Arizer devices but actually fits the tubes of all kinds of desktop vaporizers.
Once you get the adapter, you just take the mouthpiece off the silicon tube and replace it with the glass adapter. This way you get an inhalation Gong with 18mm male cut that fits all water pipes/water filters with a glass GonG 18mm female cut joint. It’s definitely the easiest and the cheapest way to connect a desktop vaporizer to a water filter.
Water filtration vs. ice filtration
Some water filters let you use not only water but also ice that additionally cools the vapor down. This way you get vapor that’s really gentle to your throat. What’s more, since gas reduces its volume in lower temperatures, the vapor becomes thicker and turns into large, milky clouds that look like smoke. Ice filters (they don’t need water) work the same way, just like Zeus Iceborn, a filter compatible with the majority of vaporizers.
Obviously, there are many more DIY solutions for water filtration but it’s very important that the materials you use to create home-made filters are non-toxic and resistant to high temperatures.
