We have recently added two new models to the VapeFully offer – X-MAX Starry V2 Vaporizer and XVape Fog Vaporizer. At first glance, they are very similar. Their prices are comparable, too. However, there are many differences between these two models. Find out what these differences are, and which device is more suitable for you.

X-MAX Starry V2 Vaporizer is an improved version of X-MAX Starry, a relatively new vaporizer from the manufacturer of renowned X-MAX V2 Pro Vaporizer. X-MAX Starry V2 is a small and very discreet, hybrid vaporizer that uses mainly conduction to heat the herbs. XVape Fog Vaporizer is also very small and uses a hybrid heating system, but the convection is prevalent. Let’s have a look at the differences between these two devices and analyze a few crucial aspects in each of them.
The looks and the production quality
Both vaporizers are very small and belong to the category of so-called ultra-portable vaporizers – the smallest vaporizers on the market. PAX 3 Vaporizer and DaVinci IQ Vaporizer also belong to this group. You can easily hide any of these devices in your hand, which allows for very discreet inhalations in public places.

Both vaporizers in question stand out due to the high-quality production, especially for devices in this price range. They have durable, metal covers, mouthpieces made of Zirconia ceramic and they are very sturdy.
Both of them are made of materials resistant to high temperatures and feature a vapor path that’s entirely isolated from the battery and any electronic components, which makes the two devices safe for the user’s health. The design of both vaporizers is very aesthetic, so in these aspects, we announce a draw.
Heating system, vapor quality, efficiency
Even though both vaporizers are equipped with a hybrid heating system, they use it in different ways. X-MAX Starry V2 Vaporizer has a ceramic heating chamber that houses 0.2-0.3 g of herbs and heats the herbs with the walls. The device adds only a bit of heat from convection – heating with a stream of hot air. The proportion of conduction to convection is roughly 80/20.

This guarantees a higher efficiency than in the case of purely conductive models and it lets you place loose herbs in the chamber, without tamping it down. However, it also entails some restrictions typical of conductive vaporizers – the herbs are heated throughout the whole session, also in between the draws, and in the second half of the session or after raising the temperature, the vapor quality slightly drops.
On the other hand, the prevalence of conduction guarantees larger and thicker clouds of vapor. X-MAX Starry V2 heats up within 30 seconds. In XVape Fog, convective heating prevails (80%) over conduction (20%), which requires longer draws and results in the production of less plentiful and thinner vapor.
However, the vapor quality and the flavor are better. The efficiency is higher, too, because the material is barely heated in between the draws and the steel chamber is smaller – it houses only c.a. 0.15 g of plant material, which is a very economical solution.
The heating takes up to 30 seconds. Even though the power of the two vaporizers is comparable, XVape Fog Vaporizer has a more efficient heating system, provides a vapor of better quality, and is more economical than X-MAX Starry V2. Therefore, XVape Fog Vaporizer wins in this category.
Temperature range and vaporization of concentrates
In X-MAX Starry V2 Vaporizer you have full control over the temperature and you can set it with a one-degree Celsius precision. The range of temperature is from 100 to 240 degrees Celsius and you can see it – along with other parameters, such as the remaining session time or the battery level – on a built-in OLED display. This range of temperatures allows for the vaporization of a wide range of medicinal herbs, as well as of concentrates
XVape Fog Vaporizer lets you set the temperature with just one button and some LED diodes. This device offers only 5 pre-set temperature levels, in the range from 180 to 220 degrees Celsius, which means that theoretically, it’s good for vaping both cannabis and concentrates.
In fact, the set contains a pad for concentrates. However, we’ve done some tests and we think that X-MAX Starry V2 does a much better job at concentrates vaporization and it’s much more versatile in this aspect. Therefore, this time, X-MAX Starry V2 is the winner.
The comfort of use and charging
Even though both devices are very easy to use, and they heat up really fast, X-MAX Starry V2 is more user-friendly due to the OLED display and a larger number of buttons. XVape Fog has only one button, and even though theoretically it’s easier, it’s much less comfortable in practice – rather than simply read the info on the display, you have to decipher the messages sent by the LED diodes. This doesn’t change the fact that both models are easy to use.

Both vaporizers are powered by a replaceable, standard, 18650 type battery, and the possibility to swap a used battery for a full one is always a great advantage. The capacity of X-MAX Starry V2 battery is slightly larger (2900 mAh) than in XVape Fog (2600 mAh). What’s more, the heating system of the latter model requires more power. As a result, X-MAX Starry V2 works a bit longer on one charge (60-80 minutes) than XVape Fog (40-60 minutes). In this category, X-MAX Starry V2 wins.
X-MAX Starry V2 Vaporizer vs. XVape Fog Vaporizer – which one to choose?
X-MAX Starry V2 Vaporizer is slightly easier to use, and it does a better job at concentrates vaporization. On top of that, it offers full temperature control and has a more powerful battery. XVape Fog Vaporizer lets you use a full range of temperatures for cannabis vaporization, provides a better vapor flavor, and is more herb-conserving.
The choice comes down to an option of a device that’s slightly easier to use or one that produces a slightly better flavor in a more efficient way. However, both models are great, especially when you take their affordable prices into consideration. They are great for those who are looking for their first vaporizer so regardless of which one you choose, you’ll be satisfied for sure.
