PAX Plus is a portable conduction vaporizer for dry herbs and concentrates, the successor to the PAX 3 with four automatic operating modes. This is the complete user manual for PAX Plus, prepared by VapeFully based on the manufacturer’s materials. It covers the first start-up, a description of the modes, cleaning and troubleshooting the most common problems. Guides for other devices are in our user manuals hub.
What’s in the box
The manufacturer packs the PAX Plus with a set of spare parts to last a long time. The two mouthpieces differ in airflow and vapour temperature, and the Half Pack lid lets you load just half the chamber.
- the PAX Plus vaporizer
- 2 mouthpieces (raised and flat)
- 2 chamber lids (standard and Half Pack for half a chamber)
- a concentrate adapter
- 3 spare screens and spare O-rings
- a multitool for tamping and stirring the herb
- a pipe cleaner for the vapour path
- a magnetic USB charger
- the manufacturer’s manual
Box contents can vary between versions and batches, so always check the current kit on the product page in the shop.
First use
A new PAX Plus needs charging and a burn-off before you pack the first chamber. The whole process takes about half an hour plus charging time.
- Charge the battery fully with the included magnetic cable. The LED petals flash while charging, and when they all glow steadily, the battery is full.
- Run an empty burn-off. Set the highest temperature, shown as four petals glowing red, and leave the vaporizer on for at least 10 minutes. The burn-off disinfects the device and removes the factory taste.
- Remove the mouthpiece and the chamber lid, and wipe the vapour path with isopropyl alcohol. Soak the mouthpieces, the screen and the other small parts in isopropyl alcohol. Do not soak the chamber lid.
- Rinse all the soaked parts with boiling water, dry them thoroughly and reassemble the vaporizer.
- Repeat the burn-off at the highest temperature. After the second burn-off, the PAX Plus is ready for its first session.
Step-by-step operation
Switching on and checking the battery
The only button on the PAX Plus hides under the mouthpiece. Press the top lid with the mouthpiece to switch the device on; the four LEDs in the shape of the PAX logo show the active mode.
To check the charge level, give the device a gentle shake. Each lit petal means about 25% battery.
The four operating modes
The PAX Plus vaporizes herb in the 180-215 degrees Celsius range. You do not set a specific value; you pick one of four modes, and the device manages the temperature itself during the session.
| Mode | LEDs | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Stealth | top left petal | minimises visible vapour, dims the LEDs and vibrations for full discretion |
| Efficiency | two top petals | raises the temperature gradually, extends the session and saves herb |
| Flavor | three petals | emphasises the flavour of the herb with increased vapour production |
| Boost | four petals | highest temperature and the biggest cloud, the mode for concentrates |
Packing the chamber and the session
Fill the chamber with finely ground herb and close it with the lid. For a smaller amount of herb, use the Half Pack lid, which presses the contents down at half the chamber.
The adapter from the kit is for concentrates. Make sure the chamber is clean, insert the adapter instead of the lid and set the highest temperature, meaning Boost mode. Keep the device upright, and after the session wait 2-3 minutes before removing the adapter from the chamber.
The general rules for working with a vaporizer, including draw technique, are described in our guide on how to use a vaporizer correctly.
Cleaning and maintenance
Vapour in the PAX Plus travels through the whole device, so condensate settles along a long path. Clean it regularly with the pipe cleaner and isopropyl alcohol, ideally every few sessions. Soak the mouthpieces and the screen in alcohol, rinse them with boiling water and dry; do not soak the chamber lid, just wipe it.
Empty the chamber straight after the session. Spent herb left in a hot chamber speeds up condensate build-up and shortens the gaps between cleans.
Warning: in a neglected device, condensate can glue the screen to the bottom of the chamber. Do not force a stuck screen out cold, because this sometimes rips out the entire heating chamber, and that kind of damage is not covered by the warranty. Instead, dissolve the condensate with isopropyl alcohol and only then take the screen out.
Most common problems (PAX Plus)
Most reports with this model come down to the characteristics of conduction heating or neglected cleaning, not faults. Work through the list below before you send the device in for a claim.
The housing and mouthpiece get quite hot
This is normal with conduction heating, especially during long, intensive sessions. Take breaks between sessions, and if the warm body bothers you while holding it, fit a Grip Sleeve cover. No servicing is needed here.
The screen is stuck to the chamber
Condensate is the culprit. Dissolve it with isopropyl alcohol and remove the screen without force. Ripping out the heating chamber while pushing a cold, stuck screen is mechanical damage that the warranty does not cover.
The device smells even without heating
An uncleaned PAX Plus gives off a distinct smell of condensate alone, noticeable on a warm day even from a pocket. Clean the vapour path, the screen and the mouthpiece, and the smell disappears. This is a maintenance issue, not grounds for a claim.
Little vapour or a lot of draw resistance
Check the pack. The herb should be finely ground and firmly tamped, but not to the maximum, because packing it too hard blocks the airflow. Clean the screen and the vapour path as well. Some resistance is a feature of this design; if, however, there is still no vapour after cleaning and a proper pack, send the device in for servicing.
A popcorn taste towards the end of the session
A typical trait of conduction vaporizers, not a fault. If it bothers you, load half a chamber with the Half Pack lid or end the session when the taste starts to fade.
The battery drains quickly
According to the manufacturer, a full battery gives 8-10 full sessions, up to about 2.5 hours of use. The battery is built in and non-replaceable, so if your results differ drastically from that norm despite a full charge with the magnetic charger, contact the service centre.
Warranty
The PAX Plus has a 10-year manufacturer warranty counted from the date of purchase by the first owner, so buying at VapeFully gives you the full 10 years of cover. Registering the device is recommended but is not a condition of servicing, and warranty servicing operates within the EU. Under the warranty, PAX repairs or replaces the device at its own discretion. You have 30 days to return the product. The claims procedure is described on our Returns and complaints page.
FAQ
How do I check the battery level on the PAX Plus?
Give the device a gentle shake. The LEDs show the charge level, and each lit petal corresponds to roughly 25% of the battery. The petals flash while charging and switch to a steady glow when the battery is full.
Can I set the temperature manually on the PAX Plus?
No. You pick one of four modes, and the temperature rises automatically during the session. For flavour lovers, we recommend starting with Stealth or Flavor mode, while Boost gives the biggest cloud.
Is the PAX Plus suitable for concentrates?
Yes. Put the concentrate adapter from the kit into a clean chamber, set Boost mode and keep the device upright. After the session, wait 2-3 minutes before removing the adapter, because it stays hot.
How much herb does the chamber hold?
A full chamber is 0.4-0.5 g of finely ground, tamped herb. With the Half Pack lid you load about 0.25 g, which is plenty for a shorter session.
How finely should I grind herb for the PAX Plus?
Very finely. The finer the grind, the better the contact between the herb and the chamber walls, and with conduction that translates into faster extraction and bigger clouds. Tamp the herb with the multitool from the kit, but do not overdo it, or you will block the airflow.
Spare parts and accessories for PAX Plus
The PAX Plus itself is no longer available to buy at VapeFully.
Safety: the PAX Plus is meant solely for vaporizing dry herbs and concentrates that are legal in your country; it is not designed for tobacco or e-liquids. The device is for adults aged 18 or over, so keep it out of the reach of children and pets. The lithium-ion battery is permanently built in: do not take the device apart and do not leave it in hot places, for example in a heated-up car.
