Mestosław is the pseudonym and personal brand of Damian Sobczyk — one of Poland's most prominent educators in the field of harm reduction and drug policy. Since 2017 he has run two YouTube channels with a combined total of over 340,000 subscribers, the podcast "Mam Temat" (66+ episodes, with guests including Prof. David Nutt, Słoń, Unboxall), and in 2022 he published the bestselling book "Haj, czyli jak nie szkodzić sobie i innym" (How to Get High Without Harming Yourself or Others) with Bartek Przybyszewski (9,600+ copies in print). In 2024 he won the top award, Creator of the Year, at the Influencers LIVE Awards in Wrocław.
Sobczyk holds a master's degree in European Studies from the University of Warsaw, where his thesis focused on the drug policy of the European Union. He is a co-founder of the Polish Psychedelic Society, a board member of the Polish Hemp Chamber, a civic expert for the Parliamentary Group for the Legalization of Marijuana, and the PR Manager of the Polish Drug Policy Network. Since 2024–2025 he has been a postgraduate lecturer at SWPS University.
His channel "Wiem co ćpiem" (I Know What I'm Taking) was removed by YouTube a total of five times. Following a mass petition (9,000 signatures) and letters of support from the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Global Drug Policy Program and the Polish Drug Policy Network, YouTube reinstated the channel after a year — as one of the few cases of its kind in the world.
"People will reach for psychoactive substances no matter what we do. That is why the most important thing is to give them as much verified information as possible, so that they can realistically assess the risk. I have no intention of giving up, because I know I'm doing nothing wrong, and my channel fills an educational gap that the state should normally fill."
