FURY EDGE / FURY 2 – Dosing capsules

These adorable little dudes are essential for my Fury Edge vaporizer… it gives me great peace of mind to know that I will never need to clean the vaporizer oven if I always use these. And I like that I can do one grind and fill session to have all 4 ready to go at home or bring on the go without having to carry herb, grinder, etc. as well. They are really small – one just about stretches me to 2 micro-dosing sessions. The price is perfect and makes them a no-brainer for anyone that might be on the fence about their value.

I am reviewing these capsules as used with X-MAX V3 Pro, several times per day, over a period of about 4 months. With V3 Pro, the chamber is about 0.5 mm wider than the capsules, making for a great fit.

Each capsule is 10.5 mm wide and 11 mm tall, and fits at least 0.1 g of herb, though depending on how dry and finely ground it is, may fit up to 0.2 g.

THE POSITIVES:

The top comes off and clicks into place with some force – hard enough not to be opened accidentally or when dropped.

The walls have a thickness of about 0.1 – 0.2 mm, and the herb fills the capsule completely from bottom to top mesh. Very little space is wasted.

Made with stainless steel, the capsules are very resistant to warping and deformation. With the top removed, under full pressure between fingers, the capsules have shown no flex or warping.

The convenience depends on your habits. I can prepare my herb for the day or several days ahead when I have the time, and then just enjoy vaping with no mess, not having to worry about AVB or cleaning the chamber between sessions. I can also do things that take a little bit more time like kief and resin sandwiches, and make sure the herb is packed and distributed evenly.

For me, the convenience is superb. I have loaded the vaporizer without the capsules less than 10 times since getting them.

They make the whole process much less messy and easy to clean. AVB, if properly dry, goes out without much issue – you might need a toothpick occasionally to clear the walls. After that, a couple of cotton swabs and some iso alcohol, and you can get them clean in a few minutes. After a number of filling and emptying cycles, about 5+ for me, very fine AVB particles will accumulate in the corners. Putting the capsules in a pill bottle along with iso alcohol and salt and shaking for a minute or two will get them back to looking brand new.

THE NEGATIVES:

The tube they come with is okay short-term, but will wear out, especially the rubber cap.

The capsules get very hot when in use – it’s easy to burn yourself if you try to take them out of the vaporizer too soon. It can be up to 5 minutes for them to cool down if you’ve had a long session. It’s a good idea to have a paper tissue or some surface to dump the capsule onto if you don’t feel like waiting to load the next capsule.

Also, I suspect the hot capsules add a bit of conductive heating into the equation, even if your vaporizer is purely convective.

The capsules are fairly expensive. While these capsule seem more sturdy, the Mighty/Crafty capsules are 5€ more for 40 capsules.

THE CONCLUSION:

Supreme convenience, durability and ease of cleaning make these capsules a worthwhile investment. If you own one of the compatible vapes, this should be a no brainer add to your wishlist. I can’t imagine the hassle of not owning these things. Small negatives are the price and container provided, compared to the competitors.

These are super handy, especially when on the go! The only downside for me is that these seem to stay hot a bit longer, making your batch not last as long as it would without a capsule. Other than that they are great! 🙂
