PAX Flow is the first hybrid vaporizer from PAX: a side-loading chamber, 10 l/min airflow and single-button operation with LED petals. This is the complete user manual for PAX Flow, prepared by VapeFully based on the manufacturer’s materials. It covers the first steps, heating modes, cleaning and the most common problems. Guides for other devices are in our user manuals hub.
What’s in the box
Inside the box with the PAX Flow vaporizer you will find:
- the PAX Flow vaporizer,
- a braided USB-C to USB-C cable,
- a spare flat mouthpiece (interchangeable with the raised one),
- a multitool for handling herb,
- 3 cleaning sticks with a wooden pick,
- 3 spare chamber screens.
First use
- Charge the device fully with the USB-C cable before the first use.
- Press the circle on the cover to open the side chamber door.
- Grind the material to a medium or fine consistency and place it gently in the chamber, without packing it down.
- Close the door and make sure the mouthpiece is seated properly. Do not use the device with the door open or ajar.
Charge the PAX Flow indoors only, at a temperature between 0 and 45°C, using a 5-9 V DC power supply rated at a minimum of 2.5 A (maximum 3 A), or from a computer port. A weaker or uncertified charger increases the risk of battery failure and voids the warranty.
Step-by-step operation
- Press and hold the button for 2 seconds, then release it. Pink LED petals mean the chamber is heating up.
- Wait 30-45 seconds until the LED petals turn green. Green means ready for a session.
- Inhale the vapour through the mouthpiece. You can draw gently or hard, the PAX Flow does not lose its set temperature.
- After the session, wait 10 minutes for the device to cool down before taking it apart. Remove the spent material with the multitool.
Heating modes
With the device switched on, press the button briefly to cycle through the 4 heating modes across the 180-225°C range. You confirm your choice by waiting 3 seconds or by shaking the device.
| Mode | Petal colour | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Petal 1 | purple | minimal vapour, discreet sessions |
| Petal 2 | green | longer sessions, saves material |
| Petal 3 | yellow | boosts flavour, smooth vapour |
| Petal 4 | orange | maximum vapour production, dense clouds |
| Bong mode | multicoloured | for water filtration via the PAX adapter (sold separately) |
You unlock bong mode by cycling twice through all 4 heating modes. To check the battery level, shake the device: the LED petals show the charge from 0 to 100%. To change the LED brightness, hold the switched-on device horizontally with both hands and rotate it twice away from you (brighter) or towards you (dimmer). The general rules of inhalation technique are described in our guide on how to use a vaporizer correctly.
Cleaning and maintenance
Clean the device and the chamber door every 3-5 sessions. Thanks to the side chamber and the exposed vapour path, a full clean takes less than a minute.
- Wait 10 minutes after the session for the chamber to cool down. Remove the door and take out the spent material with the multitool.
- Wipe the air channel and the chamber door with a cleaning stick or a paper towel dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
- Submerge the chamber screen in a small bowl of isopropyl alcohol for 15 minutes. To replace it, press the round end of the screen with the multitool and slide it out.
- Let all the parts dry completely before reassembly.
The best habit: empty the chamber with the multitool straight after the session. Heated herb left in the chamber releases resin and glues it up for the sessions to come.
Most common problems (PAX Flow)
LEDs flash red and orange, the device switches off
This is the high temperature warning: the LED petals flash four times, then the device shuts down for safety. Set the PAX Flow aside in a cool place to cool down. Remember that this model has no automatic shut-off, so if you leave it on, it keeps heating and gets very hot. Always switch it off after a session.
The housing gets quite hot
With longer sessions and higher modes this is normal, not a fault. The raised mouthpiece helps, as it keeps your lips away from the housing, and so does the silicone Grip Sleeve. Do not put the device in a pocket or bag before it has fully cooled down.
Little vapour
Check the grind and the pack: herb ground medium, not to dust, chamber filled completely but not packed down. Take long draws and switch to a higher petal. If the vapour weakens from session to session, clean the air channel and the screen, because a gummed-up vapour path is the most common cause.
The device responds strangely to the button
First check that you are not mixing up the sequence: holding switches it on and off, and short presses change the modes. That is the opposite of older PAX models. If the device genuinely gets confused, restore the factory settings: with the device switched on, hold the button for 7 seconds until the LEDs flash white 5 times.
It won’t charge
Check the cable, the power source (5-9 V DC, minimum 2.5 A) and the ambient temperature, because outside the 0-45°C range charging will not start. The battery is built in and not user-replaceable. If the device will not charge despite a working charger, make a warranty claim instead of taking it apart.
Warranty
The PAX Flow has a 4-year manufacturer warranty: 2 years as standard plus 2 more after registering the device at www.pax.com/account. Registration is optional and skipping it does not reduce your basic warranty rights, and PAX servicing operates within the EU. Modifying the device voids the warranty. You have 30 days to return the product. The full claims procedure is on our Returns and complaints page.
