Here you’ll find joint adapters for water filters – small glass connectors that link your vaporizer or mouthpiece to a bong or bubbler. In most cases it comes down to two ground glass joint standards – 14.5 mm and 18.8 mm – and to whether the end is male (M) or female (F).
Before you buy anything, check two things: what joint size your water filter uses and what you want to connect to it. The rest is just picking the right reducer or adapter. If you’re not sure what fits your gear, drop us a message – we’ll point you to the exact model.
Types of joint adapters for water filters
An adapter links two pieces with a different joint size or a different gender of connection. In practice it all comes down to three things: what joint size you have (14.5 or 18.8 mm), whether the end is male (M, slides inside) or female (F, sits over the outside), and whether you need a plain connector, a size reducer or a J-Hook mouthpiece.
The 18.8 mm standard is the wider joint, common on larger bongs. The 14.5 mm joint is narrower and dominates bubblers and water pipe adapters for vaporizers. Most compatibility issues come from mixing up these two sizes or the gender of the connection – two male ends will never fit together.
| If you want to… | Pay attention to… |
|---|---|
| connect 14.5 mm gear to an 18.8 mm filter | a 14.5 (M) to 18.8 (F) adapter or the other way round – check the gender of both ends |
| step a wide joint down to a narrower one | a reducer, e.g. 18.8 (F) to 14.5 (M), or a mini adapter 14.5 (F) to 10 mm (M) |
| join two pieces of the same gender | an M-to-M or F-to-F connector (e.g. 14.5 mm M to 14.5 mm M) |
| split one outlet into two | a splitter adapter, e.g. 18.8 (F) to 2x 18.8 (M) |
| draw comfortably from a bong | a glass J-Hook mouthpiece – a bent end you slot into the filter’s joint |
At VapeFully we look at these accessories from the angle of real use. We check that the joint seats firmly, that the glass is well finished and that the connection doesn’t loosen after a few sessions. They’re small details, but with water filtration they decide whether the setup stays sealed or keeps coming apart.
How to pick an adapter for your setup
First, measure or check the spec sheet for your water filter’s joint – it’s usually 14.5 mm or 18.8 mm. Then work out what you’re connecting: a water pipe adapter for a vaporizer, a bubbler or a mouthpiece. Only those two pieces of information tell you which adapter you need.
14.5 mm and 18.8 mm adapters
These are the core of the range. They link gear with one joint standard to a filter with the other – in both directions. When choosing, size isn’t the only thing that matters: gender counts too. A male (M) end goes into a female (F) one. If both pieces have a male joint, you need an F-to-F connector; if both are female, an M-to-M connector.
Reducers and mini adapters
A reducer steps a joint down from wider to narrower, e.g. from 18.8 to 14.5 mm or from 14.5 to 10 mm. It comes in handy when you want to fit a smaller mouthpiece or adapter into a larger water filter. Mini versions are shorter and lighter, so the whole setup is less tippy and easier to hold.
J-Hook mouthpieces
A glass J-Hook mouthpiece is a bent end you slot straight into the joint of a bong or filter. It lets you draw from the piece without tilting it at an angle – a handy solution when you’re using a larger water filter. In the range you’ll find High Labs and HERO versions in the 14.5 mm standard.
What to look at before you buy
Matching joint size and gender
This is the first and most important thing. Two ends of the same gender won’t fit together, and 14.5 mm won’t seal into 18.8 mm without a reducer. If you have any doubt about your water filter, check its description on the manufacturer’s site or write to us – we’re happy to confirm which model fits.
Glass quality and a tight seal
Adapters are delicate parts that are in direct contact with the vapour. A well-made joint seats firmly and doesn’t let air leak in from the side, which keeps the draw even. Cheaper, poorly ground accessories tend to work loose or crack during assembly. That’s why we stick with trusted makers like High Labs and HERO.
Cleaning and storage
Glass adapters are cleaned the same way as the rest of your water filtration gear – isopropyl alcohol and a gentle rinse are all it takes. It’s worth keeping a spare, since it’s a small part that’s easy to lose or knock off the table.
Pick your adapter at VapeFully
In this category you’ll mostly find adapters, reducers and mouthpieces from High Labs – our own line of accessories, designed around the real needs of vaporizer users – plus glass J-Hook mouthpieces from HERO. It’s a complete set of connectors for the most popular 14.5 and 18.8 mm joints.
We draw on the experience of our community and reviewers, including VapoManiak, one of the most recognised vaporizer reviewers in Poland. That’s how we know which connections cause trouble and what actually fits a given piece of gear.
If you’re putting together a water filtration setup, take a look at our bongs and bubblers and replacement parts too. And whenever you’re unsure which adapter fits your filter – just message us. We’ll help you choose the right one.
