Irregular cleaning of the vaporizer is the cause of vapor taste deterioration
One of the most common reasons why vapor from a vaporizer becomes unpleasant is… neglecting to clean the device. During herb vaporization resin is released, which settles on the walls of the heating chamber and other vaporizer elements.
Inside the so-called vapor path (the route taken by vapor from the chamber to the user’s mouth), condensed vapor settles as a result of temperature differences – known as condensate. It is very important to remove these contaminants promptly. To be able to enjoy the wonderful taste of your favorite herbs, you should not neglect this activity.
After each use, it is worth cleaning both the chamber and other vaporizer elements. As a rule, manufacturers include a special wipe with the device – and if they don’t, you can buy one. Cleaning the device after vaporization will take literally a few seconds, and it will allow you to postpone full cleaning.
Most importantly – frequent neglect of vaporizer cleaning can even lead to damage to the device, which will not be covered by warranty.
From time to time it’s worth deciding on more thorough vaporizer cleaning. You’ll find plenty of tips from both the manufacturer and on the internet on how to do it. Most often, disassembly and washing or soaking in isopropyl alcohol of individual parts is necessary.
After such a procedure, you can be sure that you have removed all dirt. When the alcohol evaporates completely and you perform so-called “burn-off” (i.e., turn on the device with an empty chamber and let it work) you’ll be able to return to normal use of your vaporizer.
A clean vaporizer means the vapor will have an absolutely amazing taste. How often should you perform full cleaning? It depends on the frequency of inhalation and the vaporizer model – over time you’ll start to notice when the vaporizer requires more thorough cleaning.
Pay attention to the vapor path
What taste the vapor from the vaporizer will have depends largely on the device itself. If it’s of poor quality, you shouldn’t expect miracles – just like in many other cases.
Unfortunately, the cheapest, low-quality vaporizers often have a vapor path made of materials such as plastic, which are not resistant to high temperatures. Before purchase, be sure to pay attention to what material the vaporizer is made of, and in particular the vapor path.
Vaporizer users most appreciate devices with a glass or ceramic vapor path. It has no effect on the taste and guarantees that herbs have exactly the aroma they should. Stainless steel vapor paths are also safe, although they don’t provide such a pure taste.
Set the appropriate temperature
Sometimes poor vapor taste from a vaporizer is caused by incorrect temperature settings. Before inhalation, check what the vaporization temperature of the given herbs is. In the case of plantain it is only 50-100°C, and with valerian temperatures reach as much as 220°C. Try to start from lower temperatures – later you can gradually increase them.
Too high a temperature can make the taste of herbs unpleasant. It is true that a higher temperature can make the vapor somewhat denser, but it probably is not worth spoiling the taste of herbs?
And in this case, experience is key. After a few inhalations, you will know how to vaporize to get the best out of herbs. If in doubt, you can always ask more experienced people.
