X-MAX V4 Pro Vaporizer – Technical Overview: Specs and Features 🔧

X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer review

X-MAX V4 Pro Vaporizer is a hybrid portable model with a clear convection bias. The dry herb is heated primarily by hot air flowing through the chamber during each draw, with only a minor contribution from the heated chamber walls.

One of the standout features of the device is its three-stage airflow regulation. The built-in slider on the side of the body lets you instantly shift the character of the vapor between three positions – from a more open draw and cooler vapor at full opening, to a more intense and denser vapor at restricted airflow.

This vaporizer offers temperature control via two buttons beneath the display, ranging from 100°C to 220°C in 1°C increments. The actual operating temperature, however, may be higher than what is shown on the display – more on that below. It is worth noting that the manufacturer markets this system as “True Convection,” though in practice we are dealing with a hybrid leaning heavily toward convection.

Heat-up takes approximately 12-25 seconds and may vary depending on the selected mode and battery level. The device signals readiness with a vibration, so you do not have to stare at the screen.

X-MAX V4 Pro Vaporizer Offers 2 Operating Modes – Session and On-Demand

The X-MAX V4 Pro supports both popular vaporization modes, which is rare among portable vaporizers for dry herb in this price range:

Session mode – the heater stays continuously active and maintains the set temperature for 4 or 6 minutes (your choice). The ideal solution for a calm, unhurried session – alone or with others. No button to press or hold; the device works on its own for the entire duration of the session.

On-demand mode – the heater activates only while the button is held (up to 30 seconds per press). Great for quick, single draws – the herb and battery are preserved between inhalations since the device does not heat unnecessarily. Ideal for microdosing or when you want one precise hit and then put the device away.

Switching between modes: hold both temperature buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds.

X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer box contents

The package is complete and well-thought-out. The glass mouthpiece with a built-in 14.5 mm and 18.8 mm water pipe adapter is included as standard – fans of water filtration do not need to buy any additional accessories to enjoy a bong connection from day one.

One thing worth noting: the concentrate insert is not included in the standard package – it needs to be purchased separately. For users not interested in concentrates this makes no difference, but it is worth knowing before you buy.

What’s New in the X-MAX V4 Pro? Changes Compared to V3 Pro 🆕

The X-MAX V4 Pro is not a refresh for the sake of refreshing – every change has a concrete rationale rooted in everyday use. Let us go through them one by one.

🔄 Three-Stage Airflow

The X-MAX V3 Pro had a fixed, unchangeable airflow. The X-MAX V4 Pro introduces a slider with three positions, built directly into the body – no additional parts to attach or lose. The ability to fine-tune the draw is a step in the right direction.

X-MAX V4 Pro three-stage airflow slider

The manufacturer does not mention it explicitly: even at maximum airflow opening, the V4 Pro is slightly more restrictive than the V3 Pro. If you were a fan of the relatively open draw of the V3 Pro – you will not fully replicate it in the V4 Pro. The regulation allows you to subtly fine-tune the draw character, but does not reproduce the openness of its predecessor. For the vast majority of portable vaporizer users this is irrelevant or may even be an advantage (more controlled draw). It is worth knowing, however, if an open draw is a priority for you.

⚡ Faster Heat-Up

X-MAX V4 Pro fast heat-up

From roughly 20-30 seconds in the V3 Pro down to around 12 or 20 seconds (on-demand is faster). In day-to-day portable vaporizer use, this difference is clearly noticeable.

🔩 Screw-On Battery Cap

The magnetic cap on the V3 Pro could unexpectedly open in your pocket, and the battery might simply fall out. The screw-on cap on the X-MAX V4 Pro definitively solves this problem. A simple change with a big impact.

🔌 USB-C Port on the Side

On the V3 Pro, the charging port was on the bottom, which meant laying the device on its side while charging. On the X-MAX V4 Pro it has been moved to the side – the device can now stand upright during charging.

🪟 Glass Mouthpiece with Bong Adapter Included

X-MAX V4 Pro glass mouthpiece with water pipe adapter

The X-MAX V3 Pro came with a plastic mouthpiece as standard – the bong adapter was a separate purchase. The X-MAX V4 Pro delivers a glass mouthpiece with a built-in 14.5/18 mm adapter right in the box. Glass adds no off-flavors even at higher temperatures, which immediately and noticeably improves vapor quality.

There is one trade-off: vapor through the new glass mouthpiece is warmer than through the plastic mouthpiece from the V3 Pro. Glass does not cool vapor as effectively as the ceramic insert in the predecessor’s plastic mouthpiece. This is partly due to the different construction – the previous model offered a more complex vapor path, whereas here it is straight. Accessories from the V3 Pro are fully compatible – you can always reach for the older mouthpiece if needed.

🎨 Color OLED Display

The monochrome screen of the V3 Pro has been replaced by a color OLED display. The difference in readability – especially in sunlight – is clear. The image can be rotated 180°, which comes in handy when using a water pipe.

X-MAX V4 Pro Vaporizer – Design and Build Quality 💎

The X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer has a slim, pen-like form with a matte aluminum finish. To casual observers it is simply an electronic gadget – a great advantage when using it outside the home.

The aluminum body sets this vaporizer apart from many portable devices in this price range that offer only plastic housings. Metal is more durable, more scratch-resistant, and feels decidedly more solid in the hand.

Dimensions of 2.7 × 2.4 × 15.8 cm and a weight of 107 g mean the X-MAX V4 Pro easily fits in a trouser or jacket pocket. The buttons respond precisely, and the color OLED display makes an immediately positive impression.

X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer design and build

The air and vapor path is fully isolated from the device’s electronics – vapor contacts only the chamber and the glass mouthpiece. This matters both from a safety perspective and for vapor purity.

The glass mouthpiece is attached magnetically and disassembles into five parts: the glass tip, a silicone sleeve, a cap, a filter, and a screen. It simultaneously functions as a water pipe adapter compatible with 14.5/18 mm joints.

How Does the X-MAX V4 Pro Vaporizer Perform in Practice? 🧪

X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer in use

Operating the X-MAX V4 Pro is intuitive from first contact. Three clicks turn the device on/off, two buttons control the temperature, and holding both switches between session and on-demand modes.

Load the vaporizer by removing the mouthpiece. Medium-fine ground dry herb is placed into the chamber and gently pressed without packing it hard. In practice the chamber holds approximately 0.1-0.15 g of material.

After setting the temperature and powering on, wait approximately 12-25 seconds (depending on the selected mode) – the device confirms readiness with a vibration. The convection-dominant heating rewards longer draws – aim for 10-15 seconds for the densest vapor.

A few important observations from real-world use of the X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer:

The actual temperature is higher than the displayed value. At 195°C on the display, the herb in the center of the chamber comes out dark brown to almost black.

The vapor is warm – a result of the straight vapor path and the higher actual operating temperatures compared to what the display shows. This is not a disqualifying flaw, but it requires adaptation. Solutions: water filter (adapter included!), lower temperature settings, or an alternative mouthpiece.

The airflow regulation works and has a real impact on the session. The difference between slider positions is perceptible – at maximum restriction the vapor becomes noticeably warmer and denser. Full opening delivers a cooler, smoother draw.

Both operating modes – session and on-demand – work flawlessly, but differ significantly. Heat-up time in on-demand mode can sometimes reach 20 seconds. You have 30 seconds per inhalation. You do not always manage a full inhale in time! In session mode the heater runs continuously – so that obstacle does not apply.

Adjustable airflow is a nice addition. It heats up quickly. It runs at higher temperatures than it claims – I have it set to 195°C, get a few clouds, and the herb comes out very dark brown. The battery lid problem is solved – now there’s a screw-on cap, a real improvement. The charging port on the side means you can charge it upright – convenient. The vapor is quite warm with this new mouthpiece-adapter. Glass adapter for water pipe accessories included as standard.

VapoManiak, professional vaporizer reviewer

Vapor is dense at higher temperatures and aromatic at lower ones. The glass path eliminates the off-flavors you cannot avoid with cheaper vaporizers that have plastic components in the vapor path. After a session the herb comes out unevenly heated. In the center of the chamber the material can sometimes even be over-extracted, evidenced by a very dark ABV color and unpleasant odor.

The problem of uneven herb heating can be addressed by using dosing capsules for the X-MAX V4 Pro. This also brings the displayed temperature closer to the actual one. Using dosing capsules does, however, increase the share of conduction in the hybrid heating – for some users this is a drawback, for others an advantage.

Key Pros and Cons of the X-MAX V4 Pro Vaporizer 👍👎

The X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer stands out primarily for its vapor quality combined with thoughtful functionality and a reasonable price. If you are looking for a dry herb vaporizer under €100 that does not compromise in any category – the V4 Pro is one of the best choices on the market.

Hybrid heating system with a clear convection bias – the herb is heated mainly by hot air and to a lesser extent by direct contact with the chamber walls. This translates to clean and aromatic vapor. Unfortunately the extraction is not entirely uniform.

Aluminum body sets this dry herb vaporizer apart from the plastic competition. This is something you will not see in photos but feel immediately when you pick the device up – metal is more durable and more resistant to daily use.

Replaceable 18650 battery is an absolute highlight. A spare cell means practically unlimited operating time – swapping takes just a few seconds.

Heat-up in under 25 seconds – from deciding on a session to the first draw is literally just a moment. The device signals readiness with a vibration.

Three-stage airflow is a novelty in this price class. The slider lets you fine-tune airflow resistance – particularly useful at higher temperatures and when using a water pipe.

Glass mouthpiece with built-in 14.5/18 mm water pipe adapter is included in the standard kit. Glass adds no off-flavors even at higher temperatures. Simply insert the mouthpiece directly into the bong joint – no additional accessories required.

Two operating modes – session and on-demand – are still rare among portable dry herb vaporizers in this price class. Session mode works well for calm, extended sessions – maintaining temperature for 4 or 6 minutes without holding a button. On-demand mode activates the heater only while the button is held, dramatically reducing herb and battery consumption between draws and giving full control over each inhalation. The ability to switch between modes on the fly is a huge practical value.

Color OLED display is readable even in direct sunlight and shows on a single screen: current temperature, target temperature, active heating mode, and battery level. The image can be rotated 180° for water pipe use.

Full 1°C temperature control in the range 100-220°C provides precision rarely found in budget dry herb vaporizers.

X-MAX V4 Pro Portable Vaporizer - Benefits and Defects

Benefits
  • hybrid heating with predominant convection;
  • excellent vapor flavor;
  • effective extraction;
  • three-stage airflow control (new vs. V3 Pro);
  • two operating modes: session and on-demand;
  • lightning-fast 11-second heat-up;
  • replaceable 18650 battery;
  • glass mouthpiece with built-in 14/18mm water pipe adapter;
  • color OLED display;
  • USB-C charging with side port (charges upright);
  • new screw-on battery cap (more secure than magnetic);
  • full compatibility with V3 Pro accessories.
Defects
  • vapor can be quite warm at maximum airflow restriction and high temperatures;
  • glass mouthpiece requires care during transport;
  • no concentrate support as standard (V3 Pro included an insert in the box).

This vaporizer exhibits a discrepancy between the declared and actual operating temperature. At a setting of 195°C the herb comes out dark brown to almost black, indicating a real temperature clearly above 200°C. This is not a defect – it is a phenomenon typical of hybrid heating systems, where the sensor temperature differs from the actual air temperature inside the chamber – but it requires awareness and adjusting settings to suit your own preferences.

Vapor is warm. A consequence of the straight glass mouthpiece, the short vapor path, and the higher actual temperatures. Solutions are straightforward – water filter (adapter included!), alternative mouthpiece, or lower settings – but it is worth knowing before you buy.

No concentrate insert in the box – needs to be purchased separately.

The glass mouthpiece requires care during transport. Glass is temperature-resistant, but fragile when dropped. No dedicated protective case is included.

Tips & Tricks – Getting the Best Results from the X-MAX V4 Pro 🔥

“Burn-Off” the Device Before First Use 🧹

First, wipe the heating chamber with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol (e.g. VapeCleaner). You can use cotton buds for this. Then perform a burn-off.

Run the vaporizer several times with an empty chamber at the maximum temperature of 220°C – each time for a few minutes, until the automatic shut-off. This removes any manufacturing residues and the factory taste. Repeat this process 2-3 times. This procedure is called a burn-off and we recommend it for every new vaporizer.

Actual Temperature Is Higher Than the Display Shows 🌡️

The device operates at a higher real temperature than the display indicates. If you find the extraction too intense – simply lower the temperature setting.

Match the Mode to the Situation 🎛️

Use session mode for a calm, longer session – the device maintains temperature by itself for 4 or 6 minutes, with no button to hold. Switch to on-demand mode for quick, one-off draws or when you want to maximize herb savings – the heater activates only when you hold the button. Switch between modes fluidly throughout the day, as needed.

Proper Grind and Loading 🌿

The optimal grind consistency is medium-fine. Too fine will block airflow; too coarse will not vaporize evenly. Fill the chamber naturally, without hard packing.

Match Airflow to Temperature and Mode 💨

The airflow slider has a real impact on session character:

  • Fully open – longer draws, cooler vapor
  • Middle – balance between vapor density and smoothness
  • Closed – dense vapor, more intense extraction

Dosing Capsules = Clean Chamber 🎯

Dosing capsules allow you to load the chamber without direct contact between the dry herb and the chamber walls – the chamber stays virtually clean. It is worth stocking up on a few extras.

Regular Cleaning Is Key to Fresh Taste 🧼

After each session, brush the chamber with the cleaning tool – but only once the device has cooled slightly. Every few sessions, wipe the chamber with a cotton swab soaked in isopropyl alcohol (e.g. VapeCleaner). The glass mouthpiece is best soaked in isopropanol every dozen or so sessions, rinsed with hot water, and dried thoroughly. Before the next use after cleaning, run a short burn-off with an empty chamber, as you did before first use.

Who Is the X-MAX V4 Pro Vaporizer a Good Fit For? 🎯

X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer user profile

The X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer is recommended both for those just starting out with vaporization and for experienced users looking for a versatile portable vaporizer at a sensible price.

Beginners will find intuitive controls, a clear color OLED screen, and vapor free from plastic off-flavors. The vibration that signals readiness means learning to use it requires essentially no effort. The two operating modes allow gradual discovery of the device’s capabilities.

Water filtration fans are one of the main target groups for the V4 Pro. The glass 14.5/18 mm bong adapter included in the standard package represents a considerable saving and convenience not available with most competitors.

People who use a vaporizer on the go will appreciate the discreet design, durable aluminum body, and the readiness vibration that notifies you without having to pull the device out of your pocket. The replaceable battery means that with a spare cell you can go all day.

Medical cannabis users value the precise 1°C temperature control and two operating modes – session mode for long, comfortable sessions and on-demand for precise, controlled draws. Keep in mind that the device operates at a higher temperature than the display indicates.

Users who value maximum session control will find a complete set of tools here: three-stage airflow, choice of operating mode, 1°C temperature range, and quick switching between settings.

Who is the X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer NOT the best choice for?

Those who want to use concentrates right away – without a concentrate insert in the box (needs to be purchased separately), the V4 Pro is not immediately ready for that style of vaporization.

People sensitive to warm vapor – the V4 Pro operates at higher actual temperatures than the display suggests, and the glass mouthpiece with its straight construction does not cool vapor particularly well. If comfort is your priority and you do not plan to use a water filter – you may experience some harshness if you choose to vaporize without additional accessories.

Those seeking a maximally open, unrestricted draw – the three-stage airflow regulation is real and noticeable, but even at the fully open slider position the airflow is more restrictive than in some competing models. If effortless, near-resistance-free draws are an absolute priority for you – it is worth factoring this in before buying.

X-MAX V4 Pro Vaporizer vs. the Competition 🥊

X-MAX V3 Pro vs. X-MAX V4 Pro – Is It Worth Upgrading to the Newer Generation?

X-MAX V3 Pro Vaporizer is the natural and most important comparison in this line. In what ways is the X-MAX V4 Pro better than its predecessor?

Verdict: The X-MAX V4 Pro fixes real pain points of the V3 Pro (battery cap, charging port, no bong adapter in the box) and is faster and more feature-rich. If you have a working V3 Pro and do not use a water pipe, there is no urgent reason to upgrade. If you are thinking about a new dry herb vaporizer or want water filtration without extra purchases – the V4 Pro is a natural and solid choice.

Trippy 2 vs. X-MAX V4 Pro – Convection vs. Conduction

Trippy 2 Vaporizer is a conduction dry herb vaporizer by High Labs, developed in collaboration with VapeFully and VapoManiak – a direct competitor to the V4 Pro at the same price, but representing a completely different heating philosophy.

AspectTrippy 2X-MAX V4 Pro

Both prices are identical, but these dry herb vaporizers address slightly different needs. The Trippy 2 offers a larger chamber, a large-capacity built-in battery, fast charging, and maximally simplified operation – two buttons and five presets. Extraction is fast and intense from the very first draw thanks to conduction.

The X-MAX V4 Pro gives significantly more control: full 1°C temperature regulation, three-stage airflow, on-demand mode alongside session, and a replaceable battery. This model’s biggest advantages are precisely its greater session personalization options and mobility.

Verdict: If you are transitioning from smoking and want somewhat larger doses and bigger clouds – the Trippy 2 may be a better starting point. If you want full control over temperature, operating mode, and airflow, and value a replaceable battery – the X-MAX V4 Pro is a more versatile companion, though better suited to users with somewhat lower dosing needs.

Fenix Mini vs. X-MAX V4 Pro – Compact vs. Versatility

Fenix Mini Vaporizer is an icon of compact portable devices, for years one of the most popular models in the budget segment.

Verdict: The Fenix Mini wins on price and miniature size – it is noticeably smaller and cheaper. The X-MAX V4 Pro wins in almost everything else: replaceable battery, on-demand mode alongside session, three-stage airflow, glass mouthpiece with bong adapter in the box, and the newer USB-C charging standard. Micro-USB on the Fenix Mini is a clear minus today. If maximum compactness and a tight budget matter most – the Fenix Mini still holds its own. If you want a more advanced portable vaporizer ready for the years ahead – the V4 Pro wins clearly.

VapCap M7 (and Other Butane Vaporizers) vs. X-MAX V4 Pro – Two Vaporization Philosophies

VapCap M7 Vaporizer and butane vaporizers in general – this is an entirely different philosophy. Forget electronics, screens, and cables – a butane lighter replaces everything.

Butane dry herb vaporizers offer vapor quality and extraction power completely incomparable to electronic devices in the same price range. These are tools for the connoisseur. The trade-offs: no electronic temperature control (you learn the “heat-click”), the need for a butane torch lighter, less discreet use in public places, and difficulty of use in wind.

Price~€80-€95~€95

Verdict: Choosing between a butane vaporizer and the X-MAX V4 Pro is largely a choice between vapor quality and extraction efficiency versus ease of use. If top-level extraction matters to you and you enjoy the ritual – the VapCap M7 is an absolute gem at this price. If you prefer a simple “turn on, take a draw” experience without lighters – the V4 Pro will give you a more convenient and predictable experience. Many people own both these dry herb vaporizers – and that is the most sensible option of all.

Premium Vaporizers (VENTY, Tinymight 2, Arizer Solo 3) vs. X-MAX V4 Pro

It is worth honestly showing where the limits of this price class lie.

VENTY (Storz & Bickel) – the flagship portable vaporizer from the creators of the Mighty and Crafty. Enormous heating power, airflow up to 20 l/min, ultra-fast heat-up, app-controlled regulation. A different league entirely.

Tinymight 2 – a Finnish portable dry herb vaporizer based on pure convection. 75W heating power, 3-4 seconds to operating temperature, on-demand and session modes, replaceable 18650 battery. Vapor of the absolute highest caliber – dense, intense, richly aromatic. A benchmark for portable devices.

Arizer Solo 3 – a Canadian classic. 100% glass vapor path, session and on-demand modes, exceptional flavor. Less portable than the X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer, but focused on absolute flavor purity. It also features one of the most powerful batteries on the market!

Verdict: Against these portable vaporizers, the V4 Pro is a budget-class device – and that is worth keeping in mind both as an advantage and a limitation. For ~€95 you get a dry herb vaporizer that delivers most of the capabilities of these flagships at a fraction of the price. Vapor quality is good and extraction is effective, but the vapor density and punch of, say, the Tinymight 2 is a completely different story. If you are building your collection from scratch – the V4 Pro is an excellent starting point.

X-MAX V4 Pro Vaporizer – Summary 🏁

The X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer is a thoughtful evolution in which every change has a concrete rationale rooted in daily use. Previous pain points fixed and new capabilities added – three-stage airflow, glass mouthpiece with bong adapter in the box, faster heat-up, color display.

There are, however, limitations that you need to be aware of. The airflow, though adjustable, will feel too restrictive for some users even at its most open setting. Actual operating temperatures are higher than the display indicates – and on top of that the vaporizer does not heat dry herb evenly (this can be resolved by using a dosing capsule). Vapor is warmer, which is a consequence of both the glass mouthpiece and the temperature calibration issue. These are not disqualifying flaws – but they do require adjusting settings and the right approach.

Key strengths of the X-MAX V4 Pro vaporizer:

  • Hybrid heating with convection bias – good vapor flavor and purity
  • Aluminum body – durable and solid, stands out from the competition
  • Fast heat-up in under 25 seconds depending on operating mode and battery level
  • Two operating modes: session (4 or 6 minutes without holding a button) and on-demand (heater active only while button is held) – rare in this price class
  • Three-stage airflow regulation
  • Glass mouthpiece with built-in 14.5/18 mm water pipe adapter – included in box
  • Replaceable 18650 battery
  • USB-C port on the side – charge upright
  • Screw-on battery cap
  • Color OLED display
  • Full 1°C temperature control (100-220°C)

The X-MAX V4 Pro is one of the best portable dry herb vaporizers on the market under €100. That said, in this price bracket there are some more interesting propositions to be found. This model has a number of significant drawbacks: uneven heating, a discrepancy between actual temperature and what the display shows, and fairly warm vapor. It does, however, offer considerable universality and versatility – solid hardware with some caveats at an accessible price point.
