Can CBD be used in treating epilepsy? 🥦

Before we analyse cannabidiol’s effectiveness in the context of epilepsy, it’s worth explaining what CBD is. It occurs in cannabis and is a cannabinoid that has no psychoactive effect, meaning it doesn’t cause the “high” typical of THC.

From a legal perspective, many people wonder if CBD is legal. In Europe, products containing cannabidiol that meet specific standards have no major legal restrictions. They must only guarantee THC content below 0.2% – this applies to dried herbs, concentrates, edibles, oils, and all other substances.

CBD is a promising substance supporting epilepsy therapy, but it shouldn’t be treated as a miracle solution. The key is an individualised approach based on research and cooperation with a doctor.

In recent years, CBD research has shown that it may have beneficial effects on various conditions, including neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s. In the case of epilepsy, cannabidiol can act as a supporting agent, reducing seizure frequency and alleviating their symptoms.

Some studies suggest that CBD may have anticonvulsant properties, making it a promising candidate in epilepsy therapy. However, a 2017 literature review showed that only 4 out of 21 CBD studies had proper methodology.

It’s worth knowing that cannabidiol isn’t a “magical cure-all” for epilepsy. It’s merely a kind of supplement that can support therapy. It shouldn’t be treated as a proper medicine or the only preparation intended for treating this condition.

Does CBD alleviate epilepsy symptoms? 🧑‍⚕️

In the context of using cannabidiol for epilepsy, it’s crucial to understand how to dose CBD to achieve optimal effects. This issue may vary depending on individual needs and product form.

Various forms of cannabidiol are available on the market – CBD herb, which can be used in vaporisers, CBD gummies or other forms of edibles, and even oils used sublingually. Each of these forms has its advantages and disadvantages, and their effectiveness varies depending on the person.

It’s best to initially use smaller amounts of cannabidiol. Then we can gradually increase the dose while observing the effects. Consultation with a doctor isn’t necessary.

According to research and patient reports, CBD can indeed alleviate epilepsy symptoms. Cannabidiol primarily reduces the frequency of muscle spasms, relaxes, and also reduces stress and tension levels.

CBD for epilepsy – summary 🍀

CBD is a promising option in supporting epilepsy treatment, however, it’s important to approach this topic with caution. Many studies confirm that cannabidiol can help reduce seizure frequency and alleviate their symptoms. Nevertheless, this substance isn’t a proper medicine. It should only be used as a support – if it brings the expected results.
