What can be made from hemp?

For some time now, hemp has undoubtedly been one of the most “hot” topics. Many different hemp products, such as dietary supplements, food products, and cosmetics, have appeared in physical stores.

Not everyone knows that hemp is a very versatile plant that can be used in many different ways. And it’s a great way to care for the environment! Find out what can be made from hemp.

What can be made from hemp? 🤔

Check out our ideas on what can be made from hemp.

Hemp clothing as an alternative to cotton?

Cotton clothes can be found in every wardrobe today – T-shirts, tops, cotton underwear, dresses, and many other clothing items.

Unfortunately, cotton is not as eco-friendly as it might seem. The cultivation and processing of conventional cotton are currently among the biggest environmental threats in the world.

It is estimated that cotton cultivation occupies about 2.5% of the world’s arable land, and additionally, 6% of the total global freshwater use is attributed to this industry.

An alternative could be hemp clothing.

Their production is environmentally friendly – among other reasons, because hemp has a negative carbon footprint, and its cultivation supports the ecosystem.

At the same time, these clothes are much more durable than cotton ones and retain even intense colours for a long time.

Hemp ropes – extremely durable

It’s long been known that hemp is extremely durable. The history of hemp dates back to the 16th century when hemp was used in the textile, construction, modelling, and rope-making industries (including rope production).

Hemp fibre is very thick and resistant to damage, and it does not deteriorate in water, making it popular in fishing and sailcloth production.

When it comes to rope production, hemp is still used in this industry today. It’s hard to find a more durable material resistant to water damage.

Eco-friendly… hemp plastic!

The topic of plastic has become extremely important lately because its mass production and use have a catastrophic impact on the environment. Nevertheless, the use of plastic is so widespread that completely eliminating it seems almost impossible.

However, it turns out that there is an eco-friendly alternative: hemp plastic! Here, it’s worth going back a bit in time – specifically to the 1930s.

At that time, the giant company DuPont patented the process of making plastic from oil and coal. Simultaneously, hemp plastic was invented, which was 100% eco-friendly.

Unfortunately, the huge corporation DuPont quickly blocked this idea, so the production of biodegradable plastic was not started, and the world was flooded with DuPont plastic.

Perhaps it’s worth remembering that there is an alternative to the plastic that is destroying our planet and choosing the eco-friendly option, made entirely from hemp.

Similarly, with paper, the production of which from wood pulp was handled by DuPont – hemp, from which paper can be obtained more easily and cheaply (more on this shortly), was a threat to DuPont – the company began to intensively lobby for the prohibition of hemp, which eventually became a reality. But that’s a topic for another story.

Or maybe hemp paper? 📃

Although many of us think of paper as a fully biodegradable, eco-friendly material, its production requires cutting down vast amounts of trees.

After all, each tree produces enormous amounts of oxygen, so it’s worth protecting them as much as possible.

Just like with plastic, there is a 100% eco-friendly alternative to paper.

No surprise – it’s paper made from hemp.

This paper is very durable, does not require cutting down trees, and does not contribute to increasing carbon dioxide emissions – unlike the mass logging of trees. Switching to hemp paper seems to be a good solution in this case as well.

Hemp offers a wide range of applications that are both ecological and functional. From durable clothing to sturdy ropes, biodegradable plastic, and eco-friendly paper.

CBD flowers – a favourite hemp product for many

Many people, when asked, “What can be made from hemp?” would immediately say CBD flowers. And it’s no wonder – after all, hemp has been used in many different ways for hundreds of years, from flowers to hemp tinctures.

CBD flowers, which can be used for vaporization, are currently one of the most popular products, as evidenced by the growing interest in purchasing them and their properties.

There’s no doubt that for many people, this is the most important product made from hemp!

Hemp – a surprisingly versatile plant? 🌱

As you can see, the possibilities for using hemp are indeed numerous – from clothing, through the production of eco-friendly plastic and paper, to CBD flowers and various dietary supplements or hemp cosmetics.

It’s worth exploring this topic a bit more closely and trying to choose hemp products as often as possible – even when buying a new notebook or colourful T-shirt.

After all, we all care about the well-being of the planet, and hemp is one of the best ways to protect it!
